The Apple iPhone Signal Strength Tricks by www.drmobiles.co.nz, Auckland, New Zealand

Att

The iPhone 3G has the ability to use both 3G and EDGE to obtain wireless service. The phone is programmed to use 3G service, and to switch back to EDGE when 3G is unavailable. However, the wholeswitch isn't as perfect as Apple would like you to think. Sometimes, you need to pull of one of these manual tricks to speed up your iPhone in the "service seeking" process, or just to enhance the speed of the 3G to EDGE switch.

1. When you have no signal bars on 3G, try manually switching to EDGE
    • Go to Settings >> General >> Network
    • You have an option to manually "Enable/Disable 3G"
Disable 3G

2. When you have no service, try turning Airplane Mode on and off
By turning airplane mode on, you are forcing the iPhone to disable all 3G, EDGE, and WiFi connections. So turning airplane mode on and off forces the iPhone to manuallyre-locate service, hence increasing your chance of boosting service bars or regaining service in general.
  • Go to Settings
  • Airplane Mode [On/Off] is at the top
  • Turn it on, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back off

Let us know how it worked for you.
